Web and Intranet Applications
Web Applications and Intranets allow access to important business information through a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari or Firefox.
This has many benefits over traditional Windows applications:
- Use any web browser to access your important data
- Easy to learn interface - everyone can learn to use a web browser
- Application installed only on a central server, no installation required on each computer (only a web browser is required)
- Application can be used in the office or from home or where-ever the server is accessible
Windows Applications
A more traditional Windows based application allows access to important business information through an application running on a Windows 7, Vista or XP computer.
There are many benefits to a Windows application:
- A rich user interface that allows many advanced features
- Standard interface - most users are familiar with using Windows applications
- Ideal for inputting complex or large amounts of data
- Can communicate and share data with other installed applications such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Can be used offline with no internet or network connection
